      Have you seen the new Bagpiper Club Soda commercial yet? It stars our khiladi Akki in what appears to be the Levi's jeans, Mr.Boombastic ad a few years ago.
      The formula is almost the same, except that the funda has to be somewhat India.
      So, you have Akki rescuing a bride-to-be from the clutches of the bad guys and dropping her off safely into her baraat or some such shindig. With ad makers turning into filmmakers, no reason why a 30 second ad should not be a mini film in itself, no?

      A group of bored teenagers out on a picnic are brooding as another group has fun.



      One of them flings down a copy of StarDust and Akshay Kumar zooms out of the cover.



      He gestures to the boys to follow him inside the shack and they make their own music with
      the utensils they find lying around.




      The girls from the other group hear their beats and peep inside in curiosity.
      Akshay pulls them in and they too join in the fun.




      Soon enough they are joined by the rest of the group and they bring the roof down together.
      Akshay whips out a bottle...




      ...of Bagpiper and adds, "Khoob jamega rang jab mil baithenge teen yaar. Aap, main aur Bagpiper Club Soda."

        After entering in Indian market Pepsi started their advertising in planned way to fulfill the objectives expressed by Vibha Risi, executive Vice President, marketing Pepsi India Ltd. as “I believed in advertising that leaves a smile on your face”. In 1991- The first commercial came on the screen with actress Juhi Chawla and Pop singer Remo. The theme was “Feel the music, Are you ready for the magic?” went the jingle and this ad ends with opening of Pepsi bottle. In 1992- The famous and unforgettable punch line “Yeh hai right choice baby… Ahaa! was introduced with Remo and twelve years Penny Vaz. In 1993- This time also Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Sanjana have done the commercial on the theme “Can I Have Another Pepsi”. In 1994- Here Pepsi introduced cricket star Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli and Md. Azharuddin in which Sachin and Kambli fights for Pepsi bottle and meanwhile Azhar comes out and take the bottle. This ad also ended with the same punch line “Yeh hai right choice baby…Ahaa!” In 1995- In this commercial when Akshay Kumar is given another soft drink. Then the kid in the audience shouts “Hai Akshay Pepsi” and he gets back and he gets back with his magic and this ad also with the same punch line. In 1996-Here the commercial shows the enthusiasm of Shahrukh Khan to get his Pepsi for his girl friend. He dodges the dog and with this tries he tries to show that Pepsi is the active choice to get, for which the customers can do anything, and it is also revealed by the line “Pepsi to Mai Pee Ke Rahunga”. In the same year the slogan “Nothing Official About It”., was introduced by Sachin, Azhar and Kambli.

                They say, what goes up must come down. But actor Akshay Kumar decided to demonstrate this in his trademark action star avtaar. The Bollywood actor rappelled down an 80 feet tall hoarding in Kolkata for a cola commercial.

                Doing spectacular stunts that are dangerous and mind-numbing is nothing new for Akshay Kumar, who, according to many film industry pundits, is turning out to be Bollywood's most 'bankable' star that has unfortunately not got into the Khan clan.

                Akki's skill at performing the rarest feats without using a double has been used in many films giving him the sobriquet of 'the action man of Bollywood'. In the adventure display for a cola commercial, Akshay Kumar had a rope attached to him and jumped from an 80 feet tall hoarding showing the cola.

                At the height of 40 ft, he hanged in the air for a while, waving to his fans and signed autographs, before descending to ground level. "It's action, it's fun and I have always found it very exciting to live on the edge," says the star who has been known for his daredevil feats.

                Akshay Kumar, who started as a waiter in Bangkok to fund his martial arts training, has indeed come a long way. He has been known for saving co-actors from accidents on the sets of many films. Starting as the Khiladi of Bollywood, the actor has progressively graduated to doing romantic, comedy and multi starrer films, sometimes giving more hits in a year than most of the Khans. His quiet success has not gone unnoticed by big corporates making huge investments in Bollywood.

                Kolkata: He likes doing his stunts on his own, body doubles are not his thing. So when actor Akshay Kumar turns brand ambassador for an action packed drink like Thumbs Up, he takes the job a little too seriously.

                So much so, that he jumps across buildings and roadways to grab his last Thumbs Up.

                Though this stunt wasn't even remotely close to the hair-raising action shown in the soft drink commercial, his fans loved it nonetheless.

                "We heard that he was jumping from a 90-feet height, but he came down in a rope. It was a surprise,” said one of his fan’s, Suvankar.

                "It was really great. Akshay was damn cool,” said another fan, Priya.

                Doubtless, there were fanatics among the crowd whose disappointment at not being able to get closer to their hero was apparent.

                And even as Akshay stood on terra firma after sliding down from a Kolkata shopping mall rooftop 90 feet high, it's perhaps the right time to warn… don't try this at home.

                  Akshay Kumar's much hyped cola commercial has turned out to be an anti-climax.

                  Preceded by a much hyped media campaign, which gave an impression of being perhaps the best ever cola commercial, the latest Thumbs Up commercial is disappointing to say the least.

                  Expectations were sky high for this latest campaign starring Akshay Kumar that has been filmed on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. However, the 60-second commercial currently on satellite channels surprisingly lacks the fizz. Reasons are two fold - a) There is too less of Akshay Kumar and b) The action looks fake too with a strong sense of deja vu as there isn't much novelty around the overall car chase sequence.

                  Most of the Akshay Kumar shots in the promo are in close ups which makes one wonder how much was Akshay's time really involved in the stunts. Secondly, the car sequence is hardly enthralling and doesn't boast of high adrenalin rush that one has seen in earlier Akshay commercials.

                  Malaysian director Farouk Aljoffrey may have had all the reasons to believe that he had a winner in hands with Akshay in the project. However, by the look of things, it seems he would have to wait for another day!

                  MUMBAI: Unleashing an action-packed look this summer, Coca Cola India is all set to woo its fans with a daredevil car chase action as part of its new campaign for Thums Up.

                  To bring out the "Anything for Thunder" attitude of the Indian male, the new integrated marketing campaign called "Taste the Thunder" includes a TV commercial (TVC) featuring Bollywood action hero and long-time Thums Up brand ambassador Akshay Kumar. In the TVC, Kumar is seen driving through the streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, all for a bottle of Thums Up.



                  Conceptualised by Leo Burnett and directed by Malaysian director Farouk Aljoffrey, the film has been brought to life after nearly a week's gruelling shooting schedule, says the company.

                  According to Coca-Cola India director of marketing Kashmira Chadha, "The latest Thums Up campaign aims at portraying the 'Anything for Thunder' attitude of the Indian male. He is a person who will do anything to get his favourite soft drink. Nothing can come in between him and his Thums Up. To drive this message, an integrated communication plan, involving both above and below-the-line initiatives, are being rolled out."



                  Commenting on the new Thums Up ad, Leo Burnett's executive creative director Sainath Saraban said, "A Thums Up drinker's thirst for his Thums Up is very different from any other thirst, which is why the challenge this time was to do something bigger and better than last year. And in this film, we feel we have something that truly lives up to the stature of Thums Up. The car stunts are amazing in this film, but the most interesting part of this commercial is its ending. It's unlike any other Thums Up film you would have ever seen."



                  Kumar said, "It feels great to be associated with a brand like Thums Up. It is a brand which is all about energy and a go-getting spirit; these are qualities which I closely identify with. What excites me even more is the thunderous taste experience offered by Thums Up. It is an experience, which, I am sure, would find a special appeal amongst all my fans."

                  The TVC revolves around a pulse racing car chase by Kumar to get his bottle of Thums Up, which is lodged in a truck.

                  MUMBAI: Movie marketing is at its peak as some big flicks are lined up for release with top brass actors. And its no rocket science that the brands they endorse are vying for a share of the pie. One such movie is the Akshay Kumar starrer Chandni Chowk To China (CC2C), which is slated to release on 16 January.

                  Kumar, who endorses the beverage brand Thums Up, has shot for an ad for the brand with CC2C in its backdrop.

                  The ad, which is currently running across television channels, has the CC2C poster with Akshay Kumar stepping out of it with a Thums Up bottle in his hand. A few sequences from the film are shown with the voiceover in the end - "Thums Up ke liye main Chandni Chowk To China kuch bhi karne ko tyaar hoon."

                  According to information available, Thums Up has also been placed in one of the scenes in the movie.

                  Coca Cola has also launched CC2C branded Thums Up PET bottles in select markets for a limited period, which sport Akshay Kumar's picture in his CC2C get-up.

                  Coca Cola company officials were not available for comment at the time of filing this story.

                    Shot by Australian director Jon Gwyther in Sydney, the advertisement will see the two avatars of the actor competing with each other to be the first one to grab the bottle of the soft drink without letting their feet touch the ground.

                    While, the first avatar will be shown to be an intense character, the other will be a fun loving person.

                    On big screen, the actor portrayed a double role for the first time in the 1997 movie "Aflatoon". :grin:

Akshay responds in a triumphant mode to one of the fellow drivers at the red signal saying ‘Mil gaya Boss’, and shows off his bottle of Thums Up.

A smile flashes on his face when the door is opened and he says raising his Thums Up bottle ‘Mil Gaya’. His friend is shocked and is inquisitive about why does he have to drink only Thums Up. Akshay Kumar makes her taste the drink, resulting in the couple having a mild tussle over the bottle. However the girl gives up and hands him back his bottle of Thums Up.

                          Akshay Kumar und das große Geld sind gleichbedeutend miteinander. Nach dem Arbeiten im (vermutlich) kostspieligsten Film, der jemals auf dieser Seite des Planeten gemacht wurde - Blue - setzt Akshay jetzt das GROßE Phänomen auch in der Werbewelt fort. Wenn Industriegerüchten geglaubt werden soll, würde er jetzt im kostspieligsten jemals mit einem indischen Schauspieler gemachten Werbefilm gezeigt werden. Das wäre für Thums Up (das alkoholfreie Getränk, für das Akshay jetzt seit ziemlich vielen Jahren der Markenbotschafter ist) und wie es Tradition ist, wird er an Auslandsschauplätzen gedreht.

                          Sagt eine Quelle des Teams welches beschäftigt ist, die Werbung zusammenzustellen. "Nehmen Sie irgendeine Werbung, für Thums Up, die Akshay gemacht hat und Sie würden ihn sehen, wie er einige teuflische Stunts riskiert. Das ist die Tendenz für das letzte halbe Jahrzehnt gewesen oder so, seitdem Akshay, diese Marke promotet. In diesem Jahr ist es nicht anders, weil die Werbung Akshay bei einigen atemberaubenden Stunts zeigen wird."

                          Während schnelle Autos, das Wolkenkratzer-Springen und Laufen auf beschäftigten Straßen etwas ist, was die Zuschauer von Akshay in den letzten Werbungen gesehen haben, die er für die Marke gedreht hat, wartet man darauf, zu sehen, was der Schauspieler im ersten Dreh, den er 2010 macht, anzubieten hat.

                          "Es wird etwas sein, was man vorher noch nie gesehen hat; das können wir versprechen" bestätigt die Quelle, "Thums Up ist 2009 die Nummer Eins in Indien, bei den alkoholfreien Getränken gewesen und hat andere Colas in dem Rennen geschlagen. Es kommt darauf an, dass eine weitere Promotion der Marke etwas gibt, das ihr nicht nur helfen würde, die Position zu behalten sondern auch der Konkurrenz zu entkommen."

                          Laut Quellen, prahlt die Werbung, die in Malaysia gedreht würde, damit das unerhört viel Geld beteiligt ist. Die Industrie macht es bei 2 crores fest, obwohl die offizielle Bestätigung darüber noch kommen soll.

                          "Es ist sicher die kostspieligste Werbung jemals, aber ich bin nicht autorisiert, Ihnen die Endzahl zu geben" sagt die Quelle, "Jedoch ist es ganz nah der Zahl, die Sie erwähnten. Die Werbung wird jede Rupie wert sein, die für den Dreh beiseite gelegt worden ist."

                          Die vergangenen letzten Wochen haben wir mit der aktiven Planung um den Dreh verbracht, bei dem einige wichtige Genehmigungen erforderlich sind, hauptsächlich wegen einiger gefährlicher Stunts, die beteiligt sein werden. Mit vorhandenen Schauplätzen und der kompletten Mannschaft die bereit und in Bereitschaft ist wird alles veranlasst, das die Werbung, in der kommenden Woche gedreht wird.

                            Akshay Kumar recently got into a scrape with alligators while shooting a cola ad in Malaysia.

                            Says a source close to the actor, "Akshay loves all risky stunts from car chases to diving down waterfalls. Of course, most of this he does for his films. So when the cola brand he endorses wanted to shoot the ad in Malaysia, Akki suggested that he fight crocodiles and go white water rafting. The concept would be how Akshay fights crocs and dives down from his boat into the river to rescue his cola."

                            The unit, accompanied by the crocodile trainers, started shooting early one morning in the jungles of Gopeng Perak. Khiladi Kumar was to go white water rafting, jump down from the raft into the river, dodge the crocs and swim to safety.

                            "When he jumped into the water the crocs were at a safe distance. However, something happened, and one of the reptiles lunged towards the actor."

                            All Akshay could see was its menacing jaw rushing towards him. "He froze for a split second. He has indulged in plenty of extreme-action stunts but fighting a crocodile is something he hasn't done in real life. He turned around, grabbed the raft and quickly swung onto it and started rowing away as fast as he could till he reached a place of safety. His presence of mind saved him. Fortunately, they got some great shots of the actor with the crocs and he didn't have to re-shoot."

                            According to the source, "AK has fought sharks while shooting for Blue. There too, he had an accident and got injured. But he loves thrills and the cola he endorses is all about thrilling action and excitement."

After having being chosen as the brand ambassador for a million products, Akki is all set to lend his 'Phase Value', this time round to the electronics major LG.

                              Bollywood Hungama's confirmed sources said, "Akki was always an immediate choice for the said brand, after Abhishek Bachchan." Rumors have it that Abhi's contract was not renewed because he insisted on having his better half Aishwarya Rai as a part of the deal, which LG officials were not too forthcoming about. That's the reason they chose Akshay over Abhishek."
