Ich lasse mal noch einen Bericht zu den unter Saamy Square (201x) erwähnten Streiks da.....

Vijay 62 acquiring permission to shoot despite Tamil Cinema Strike has drawn flak courtesy.
                  March 21, 2018 - fansexpress.in

The TPFC had called in on a new release ban on March 16. Apart from no new releases hitting theatres, makers of upcoming films were not allowed to continue shooting. However despite the strike, Thalapathy Vijay’s upcoming movie with AR Murugadoss was shooting at Victoria Hall in Chennai. This caused a stir among other producers but later, the TPFC issued a clarification. The film had acquired special permission to shoot because some of their crew members were from Andhra Pradesh and there were only few days to the completion of the schedule. “We want to accommodate producers’ interests as much as possible. This is why the TFPC looked at these cases and decided in their favour,” stated the TPFC’s treasurer as per reports on The Hindu. But this reasoning has not convinced certain producers. They are of the view that the TPFC should have been clear about allowing exemption if it was possible.

The general view is that the TPFC came up with an explanation only after noise was created on social media over Thalapathy 62’s shoot. As per reports on The Hindu, here’s what the former Nadigar Sangam President have to say -“What they should have said is that they are going on a strike from March 16 and these four people have been given permission to continue their shooting and that if others have a valid reason, they can also get permission,”

Many producers had stopped filming thinking it was not allowed, but now that few films have been given permission, they believe that the TPFC should have made this clear. Tomorrow it will be a week since the strike hit Tamil Nadu. If this continues, summer will be clogged with releases as films will delay their release date.

Tamil actors join protest over Cauvery Management Board
                      April 08, 2018 - business-standard.com

Top Tamil film stars on Sunday joined the ongoing protest for the formation of a Cauvery Management Board (CMB) in Tamil Nadu's Chennai.

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, as well as superstar Rajinikanth along with his son-in-law Dhanush, participated in a protest organised by various film bodies in Chennai's Valluvar Kottam.

Vijay, Nasser, Vishal and Ilaiyaraaja also joined the stage with Haasan and Rajinikanth.

The Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), South Indian Artistes' Association (SIAA), Film Employees' Federation of South India (FEFSI) and a distributors' association are also a part of the massive protest.

Tamil Nadu has moved a contempt plea in the Supreme Court, seeking action against the Centre for allegedly failing to form the Cauvery Management Board within six weeks as ordered by the court on February 16.

On March 31, the Central Government filed a clarification petition in the Supreme Court, seeking more time to form the CMB, and asked whether it could modify the composition of the board.

On February 16, the top court asked the Centre to form the CMB to implement a formula for sharing of water between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

In the ruling, the court reduced Tamil Nadu's share in the Cauvery water to 177.25 thousand million cubic feet.

Film industry strike: There will be no new Tamil movie releases this Puthaandu
                        April 14, 2018 - thenewsminute.com

The ongoing Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) strike has ensured that no new Tamil films will release this Tamil New Year, celebrated on April 14. The cap on new releases is entering its seventh week, the longest ever strike in the Tamil film industry.

Although, other language films, barring Telugu, are being released in the state, the fact that no new Tamil films have released has dampened the spirits of several movie-goers spirits.

The Tamil New Year weekend is usually an important time for releases. Besides Diwali and Pongal, films usually line up for a release on or around Tamil New Year. Last year, Dhanush’s Pa Paandi released and, in 2016, Atlee’s Thericame out on April 14 – both went on to become smash hits.

Owing to the exorbitant price rates of digital projectors fixed by digital service providers, the Tamil Film Producers’ Council decided to go on an indefinite strike. It has been over a month now, and the end doesn’t seem to be in sight.

There are around 30 Tamil films which are waiting to be released. There are rumours that the eagerly anticipated Rajinikanth starrer Kaala, which is supposed to hit the screens on April 27, might be pushed to a later date.

It was first announced that there will be no new releases in the state from March 3. And next, in an effort to intensify its agitation, it was announced that all operations pertaining to the industry, even shooting of Tamil films, will have to stop from March 16.

Following this, several producers and others dependent on the industry for their livelihood have started to feel the pinch in the strike that seems to be unending as of now. In a five-page legal notice, Sri Varaaki Amman Pictures slammed Vishal and the Film Producers Council for curtailing the freedom of trade and putting its business in “complete distress”.

In addition to this, the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Distributors Association is all set to file a complaint against the TFPC with the Competition Commission of India next week.

Some of the films that are waiting for release are Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai, Atharvaa’s Imaikaa Nodigal, Jayam Ravi’s Tik Tik Tik, Mari Selvaraj’s Pariyerum Perumal and Jiiva’s Kee. Karthik Subbaraj’s silent thriller Mercury has been released in all the other states except Tamil Nadu.

Der Produzentenstreik scheint ein Ende gefunden zu haben. Am 20. April 2018 darf der erste neue Streifen auf die Leinwand und allen anschein nach wird es sich hierbei um Mercury (2018) handeln.

Kollywood strike called off after 48 days; films to start releasing in Tamil Nadu theatres from 20 April
                              April 18, 2018 - firstpost.com

Here we go. Our first Tamil film release after the revamp is gonna be Mercury Movie in a grand scale.looking fwd to this lovely venture from @karthiksubbaraj.all da best. #Tfpc will assure a huge and grand release wit all support. God bless - Vishal
The 48-day-long strike of Kollywood has been finally called off. The stakeholders have come to a positive agreement through the tripartite talks chaired by the state government between Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC), exhibitors and digital service providers yesterday. Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju and Commercial Taxes Minister KC Veeramani presided over the eight-hour-long discussion.

Addressing the reporters after the highly anticipated meeting, Vishal, president of Tamil Film Producers' Council (TFPC) and secretary of South Indian Artistes Association (SIAA), said, "At the outset, we would like to thank our Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami for his complete cooperation. The state government has decided to make computerised ticketing mandatory in all the theatres located in Tamil Nadu. They are going to pass a GO stating that all theaters should implement electronic tickets from 1 June. Also, flexible ticketing will come into place soon. It will make the movie going experience easier for audiences since films will be categorised and priced accordingly."

Vishal further added, "Online ticketing fee has been a significant burden on viewers. So, TFPC has decided to start our own portal. Including the gateway charge, we are trying to fix the maximum cap on online ticketing transaction as Rs 4. TFPC itself will also do mastering for films. We have a mastering facility with us now."

The reduction in Virtual Print Fee (VPF) has been the severe bone of contention between producers and digital service providers and was the main reason for the impasse. Now, Qube has agreed to reduce the VPF by 50 percent from their previous rates. "The VPF for E-cinema has been reduced from Rs 9,000 to Rs 5,000. The flat fee of Rs 22,000 for the full run of a film has been reduced to Rs 10,000 now. More than 550 screens in Tamil Nadu are equipped with E-cinema projectors. So, the 50 percent slash in VPF charges is a welcome move for small producers. And we will hold our next round of discussion after two months regarding D-cinema. We will sit with all the producers tomorrow and decide when to lift the embargo on new releases and about the resumption of shooting activities. We will make an official announcement tomorrow

Firstpost got in touch with Senthil Kumar, co-founder of Qube Technologies, to learn more details about the recent development. "Yes. We have agreed to slash the price for E-cinema as requested by ministers. They wanted us to try this price for some time and see. Everyone, including us, wants the strike to come to an end for the betterment of the industry. We will follow this pricing for an interim period of six months. If it works out well for us, we will continue with the same pricing. For D-cinema, we are following the same price as the neighboring states."

Shedding more light on the flexible pricing, Vishal said, "It will vary depending on the film. Producer, distributor, and exhibitor will discuss and arrive at a consensus. For example, if a producer wants his film's ticket price to be Rs 50 instead of Rs 150, he will discuss with the distributor."

When asked if Rajinikanth's Kaala will release on 27 April as announced earlier, Vishal said, "Films will release based on a particular order. We will discuss with all the producers tomorrow and announce it. More importantly, we have formed a release regulation committee to ensure that every week accommodates three releases without any trouble. Both big and small films will get a fair number of screens henceforth."

Since Karthik Subbaraj's silent thriller Mercury released everywhere else last week except Tamil Nadu, sources say producers have decided to give priority for the film to hit screens as soon as possible. Hinting at the same, National Award-winning writer and producer Dhananjayan wished Karthik on his Twitter page. "Karthik Subbaraj's wait for #Mercury release in TN shall happen with top priority this week. Best wishes ji .I am sure your patience & support to the entire industry's initiative shall bring box office success." [sic]

Vishal saves Rajinikanth's 'Kaala' from catastrophe
                                June 07, 2018 - greatandhra.com

Vishal Krishna, who is cresting the box office with his Tamil/Telugu digital-crime thriller "Irumbhai Thirai"/"Abhimanyudu", has proved to be a real-life hero for superstar Rajinikanth by averting a major digital crime just in time by getting an overzealous Thalaiva fan arrested in Singapore while he was pirating "Kaala".

Vishal, who has lately become a prominent voice of the Tamil film industry and who heads Tamil Nadu Films Producers' Council (TFPC), said: "It could have been a major crisis," after the incident on Wednesday.

"'Kaala' is a big film for us. Rajini Sir is coming back after two years. To our horror we got to know through our sources in Singapore that a man in the Cathay multiplex was live-streaming 'Kaala' on Facebook."

Vishal and his team swung into action immediately.

"We got the man arrested after he had streamed 40 minutes of 'Kaala' on Facebook. (This was prior to its release in India on Thursday). The important thing was to take action without delay. That we managed to do."

"It wasn't an easy job. We had to push really hard for his arrest as this was a crime committed outside India. But now that it's done, the arrest sends out the right signal to all potential piracy offenders who may not even be aware that they are guilty.

"Lots of people think recording scenes and songs on their phone is okay. But it is not okay. It is a serious crime. We want the potential offenders to know we have zero tolerance for piracy in any form. If we want to save the film industry we need to stop talking and start acting," he said.
